KLA Ocean Safety Calendar Photo Deadline

Contribute Your Kauai Photo to KLA Calendar
The Kauai Lifeguard Association (KLA) Second Wave Ocean Safety Campaign will Help Save Lives! Thanks to the joint efforts of the County and the KLA the number of drownings in the past few years on Kauai have decreased from 15 to none in 2012. New lifeguard towers, water safety awareness campaigns and some of the best training and  equipment all contributed to saving lives.

The efforts continue this year with a grass-roots publicity campaign that supports a variety of programs that are already in place along with a spectacular 15-month calendar that will feature our island beaches, waves, ocean safety tips, our lifeguards as well as programs and events that benefit our community.

The two key sponsors for this Ocean Safety Calendar are King Auto Center and Hawaii Care and Cleaning, with further support from Verizon Wireless, Capt Andy's Sailing Adventures, and go! Mokulele. The calendars are being composed by Ron Kosen of Photo Spectrum who is donating much time and energy into a layout that all Kauai will be proud of.

The are a few remaining slots for photos of Kauai’s waves and/or beaches and sea life. The deadline to submit high-resolution photos to Ron is June 27, 2012. The calendar will be ready for sale at a variety of events as well as well as Times/Big Save Supermarkets thru a good portion of the summer.

The calendar will also be for sale at the KLA Second Wave Celebration October 7, 2012 at Kilohana. The cost per 15-month calendar from October 2012- December 2013 will be $10.

The public is invited to donate a photo for this calendar by June 27, 2012. If your photo is used you will receive photo credit in the calendar as well as a pair of tickets to the Kilohana concert featuring Willie K., Kalapana, Henry Kapono, John Cruz, and Andy Bumatai. This concert will serve as the finale to the KLA Second Wave Celebration with a fundraising goal to benefit our island in 2013.

Ron can be reached at 808-245-7667 at his business location on 2987 Umi St, Lihue, HI 96766 during regular business hours. For further information about the KLA Second Wave Celebration and Ocean Safety Campaign visit Kauailifeguards.org or follow us on Facebook, Google+, or Twitter.

  1. During my honeymoon in vietnam, I also encountered the Vietnamese Lifeguard association. They are poorly equipped but properly trained.
